Anthony da Costa: “Anywhere But Here”

Anthony da Costa has packed a lifetime in a very short span. He started out playing open mic nights around his hometown of Pleasantville, NY at age thirteen. By sixteen, he was winning awards at folk competitions across the country, including the Kerrville Folk Festival. A bout with tendinitis and earning a history degree at Columbia University couldn’t slow him down: by 2012, da Costa had nine albums to his name.

After graduating in May, da Costa moved to Austin, and for the past few months, he’s been building up his name in coffeehouses around town while working on his new record. At twenty-three, he’s already a music veteran with a sound somewhere between Ryan Adams and Ben Kweller. Catch da Costa and his band at Strange Brew tonight, and download a Studio 1A version of “Anywhere But Here” below.
