Brownout: “You Already Are” (Live In Studio 1A)

The members of Brownout spent most of last year as Brown Sabbath, translating Black Sabbath’s heavy groove for Latin funk aficionados. The cross-pollination was an inspired choice. Ever since the Austin group spun off of Grupo Fantasma, they’ve followed their ears to some interesting musical places: psychedelic rock, hard-charging funk, and beyond. During their Studio 1A set earlier this week, guitarist Adrian Quesada told us that a second volume of Brown Sabbath is on the way this fall with another Brownout record close on its heels. In the meantime, the band dusted off the slo-mo crawl of “You Already Are,” which originally appeared on their 2008 debut Homenaje. Download the song below, and catch the band tonight at the Bob Bullock State History Museum. Brownout and Sweet Spirit kick off KUTX’s free Music Under The Star concert series at 6 p.m.
