All this week, the Song of the Day spotlights artists performing at SXSW 2017.
Dos Santos: Anti-Beat Orquesta is a Chicago-based collective that sounds right at home here in Austin. Their blend of salsa and psychedelia is just a few dance steps away from the Grupo Fantasma/Brownout axis of funk, and fittingly, Grupo and Brownout guitarist Beto Martinez produced Dos Santos’ 2016 EP Fonografic. “¡Cafeteando!” sounds like dubbed-out chicha music that’s been fed back through the Caribbean until it’s a little sun-sick. In other words, it’s a perfect soundtrack for the I-can’t-go-on-I-must-go-on point that comes every year during SXSW.
“”¡Cafeteando!” appears on Fonografic, out now.
