Go Fever: “Surprise! I Never Loved You”

Hailing from a small Australian town and wielding a “hold nothing back,” attitude, recent  Project ATX6 pick Acey Monaro is the lightning behind Austin low-key supergroup Go Fever. Outfitted with members of Star Parks, Sweet Spirit, and Burgess Meredith (to name a few), Go Fever’s music is the personification of the spectrum of influences Monaro wears on her sleeve along with her heart, from Doo Wop to surf rock.

“Surprise! I Never Loved You,” is a showcase of everything that makes Go Fever contagious. Sunny vocals sliding off a sharpened tongue, fistfuls of pep, and a generous helping of their of Soul-meets-surf secret sauce. Monaro brilliantly marries lyrics that read like a kiss-off letter to a toxic ex to music that reflects how good it feels to tell your ex know how much better life is now.

Check out Go Fever’s Studio 1A session, and catch Go Fever tomorrow night at Cheer Up Charlie’s for a Hot Summer Nights showcase featuring White Denim, Deep Time, the Stacks, and more.
