Good Field: “These Dreams”

Austin indie rockers Good Field play Saturday night at the Mohawk along with Black Books, Feverbones, and Pageantry. To get you in the mood for the show, we’re once again taking a stroll down Studio 1A memory lane. We’re not goin’ back too far today though, just last February, when Good Field stopped by to perform a few tunes for us from their full-length, self-titled debut.

Frontman Paul Price started Good Field as a solo project in between work with Voxtrot and Brazos. He brought friends Nathan Stein, drummer Esteban Cruz, bassist Michael McLeod and keyboardist Kyle Robertson on board to help fill out the sounds and songs he had in his head. Good Field released their self-titled debut in February 2012. This past February, they re-issued the record on vinyl, and came by KUTX to play some songs for us. One of the songs they recorded in 1A is “These Dreams.” The band made use of every bit of sonic space in the studio, and live up to the title of this ethereal tune. Price’s “oohs” and the melody swells throughout the room like a gentle, very-early-morning mist. It’s a starry night night drive or a warm embrace. They’ll be bringing that same sonic imagery to a brain near you when they play the Mohawk Saturday.
