When Austin’s Gumbo Ce Soir visited us late last year, they started the first-ever dance party in Studio 1A. They’re one of a handful of local bands who look to east Texas and western Louisiana, where Cajun music is still king. Gumbo Ce Soir tips their hat back to Bob Wills by swinging the music a bit–it’s traditional, but with a Texas twist.
Fresh off performing on Jimmy Kimmel Live during SXSW, Gumbo Ce Soir brings the dance party to Johnson’s Backyard Garden this Saturday for their Spring Hoedown. There will be a farm-to-table buffet, a 5K race, music, and more. In the meantime, brush up on your Cajun dancing with “Old-Fashioned Two-Step” below, caught live in Studio 1A.
