Jay Som (real name: Melina Duterte) has spent the last six months living out the “touring-while-finishing-an-album” life, wrapping it up with a West Coast tour with Peter Bjorn and John and Austin’s Bayonne. Now, Duterte has hit pause on the touring, moved to Oakland, and is finishing-up her second album of 2016, Turn Into.
“Peach Boy” grabs and holds your attention with lo-fi guitars and synth that convey a sense of lightness and optimism, but are covered in fuzz and mixed with Duterte’s haunting vocals. All of these elements coalesce into a woozy tune perfect for shoe-gazin’ and foot-shufflin’.
