Lee Fields has seen it all. The North Carolina soul singer released his first single in 1969, and he’s hit a newfound stride over the past half-decade with his backing band the Expressions. Their latest album together, Special Night, is just that: hard-hitting, after-midnight soul music that’s special in its perfect timelessness.
But Fields throws down a timely call-to-arms in the form of “Make The World.” On the song, he’s more than a soul singer. He’s a coach, a doctor, a historian, and a fighter. It’s best to listen up.
