Marias: “Little Bugs”

L.A.’s Jeremy Daly is a painter who also plays guitar and sings in Marias, a collaboration with Woody Goss from Vulfpeck. Marias released its debut, Peace Sign, earlier this summer, and it covers terrain that’s similar to Wilco or Kevin Morby’s spiky folk-rock. “Little Bugs” skews to the folk side of things, a hushed performance with Daly’s voice front-and-center. Listen closer and you’ll notice all the circular patterns the guitars, bass, and keyboards draw in the air, in tune with the song’s emotional back-and-forth. The music video feels perfectly matched too. “Little Bugs” is a strange little song that doesn’t have a lot of answers, and it’s all the better for it.

“Little Bugs” appears on Peace Sign, out now.
