Matt The Electrician: “Never Had A Gun”

Matt The Electrician has always carried an everyman appeal. Yes, the Austin songwriter was an electrician for years, which helped pay the bills while he toured the country DIY-style. His music is also an inclusive mixture of folk and pop, humble but peppered with Matt’s often-irreverent observations on life.

Instead of releasing a new album, Matt opted for a collaborative project. Starting October 23, he’s releasing a new 7″ single every few months as the songs are finished. First up, Matt teams up with Austin bluegrass standouts Wood & Wire for “The Bear” b/w “Never Had A Gun.” Even while spending most of the year on the road, Matt meditates on all the roads he hasn’t taken on “Never Had A Gun.” Download the song below, order the vinyl here, and catch Matt The Electrician live on Eklektikos with John Aielli on Thursday, October 22.
