Provo, Utah might not be considered a hotbed of music, but being out of the spotlight has allowed Mideau to hone their sound. Libbie Linton and Spencer Harrison first met as solo performers before deciding to team up. It took them a few years to record their collaboration, but the time spent shows in their work. Last year’s Way With Words EP is big and lush, reminiscent of Wye Oak’s recent electronic experiments. Mideau’s self-titled LP drops on April 21st, and “Maude” is the first taste. It’s somehow even bigger than the songs on their EP, working in string samples and a hefty rhythmic switch at the coda. Download “Maude” below and catch Mideau at SXSW 2015.
