My Jerusalem: “No One Gonna Give You Love” (Live In Studio 1A)

My Jerusalem is the KUTX Artist of the Month for July.

Fittingly for a city that prides itself on its green space, a lot of Austin music sounds tailor-made for being outdoors in the sunshine. But Austin’s My Jerusalem is best-served after dark. In his upcoming My KUTX, singer and guitarist Jeff Klein highlights this shadowy sound, playing influences ranging from the Cure and David Bowie to Leonard Cohen and Nick Cave.

Even with the gothic reference points, My Jerusalem is more inviting that chilly. On “No One Gonna Give You Love,” the band paints a tale of us-against-the-world romance, punctuated by the kind of Phil Spector drumbeat that sounds more like a heart beat. The song is high drama, but My Jerusalem offers a hand to guide you through the darkness.

Find a Studio 1A live version of “No One Gonna Give You Love” below. The song also appears on A Little Death, out now via Washington Square Music. Jeff Klein’s My KUTX airs on Saturday, July 16 at 6 p.m.
