Oddisee has quietly built one of most impressive discographies in rap, more from a sonic standpoint than out-and-out sales. The Brooklyn-based, Maryland-raised artist is both an MC and a producer, and he’s able to wear both of these hats extremely well. You can get lost in his rich, soul/jazz-influenced productions. One of his best-loved releases was 2011’s Rock Creek Park, a (mostly) instrumental ode to his childhood world: long walks spent exploring nature, all set to a beautiful soundtrack.
When Oddisee gets on the mic, he’s a rapid-fire force to be reckoned with. The Good Fight, out May 5, kicks off with the simple-yet-effective “That’s Love.” Built around an organ-and-horn-fueled funk workout, Oddisee explores the good, the bad, and the in-between of love. It’s honest and soulful, which is Oddisee’s wheelhouse. Take a listen and download “That’s Love” below.
