RoyBoy: “Fall Back”

Desperately in need of some genuine and sensual R&B? RoyBoy’s got your back.

You might’ve seen native Austinite Roy Thomas over the years providing trumpet and backing vocals for local mainstays Mother Falcon and Sip Sip, as well as up-and-comers Sometimes A Legend. With a bevy of collaborations already under his belt and a UNT Jazz Studies degree to boot, Thomas only recently began recording his own solo material.

The result is Palacesthe debut 5-song EP from RoyBoy that sonically hearkens back to R&B giants like Sade and Bobby Caldwell and, performance-wise, is a culmination of countless onstage and in-studio hours. Initially released back in May, Palaces is finally enjoying an accompanying release show, this Saturday, October 28th at Hole in the Wall along with Monte, Casie Luong & CAPYAC. You can listen to the centerpiece of RoyBoy’s Palaces, “Fall Back”, right here on KUTX.
