Slothrust’s “Like A Child Hiding Behind Your Tombstone” crams a lot of ideas into a succinct song. There’s that title, playful and morbid, perfectly matching Leah Wellbaum’s arch delivery. The band follows suit, sometimes whisper-quiet before throttling towards a blues/rock/grunge sweet spot. Even if there’s a lot going on, Slothrust offers up an escapist fantasy that’s easy to air-guitar to.
“Like A Child Hiding Behind Your Tombstone” appears on Everyone Else, out October 28. Slothrust plays a sold-out show at the Parish on Thursday, October 20.
