As the group’s name suggests, these cats will always flip a frown with every live performance and release.
Though three of the five members of SMiiLE also compose the core of Austin outfit Dreamboat, and there are certainly discernible sonic similarities between the two, the nearly overwhelming positivity of SMiiLE’s onstage and in-studio character create their own niche in the local scene. The undeniably uplifting moods that their indie textures evoke have been heard since the release of their debut single in 2015 and furthered in the 2016 full-length Like A Diamond in the Rough, You Shine.
Right now they’re sharing their sound up north with an extensive national tour including stops in Philly, New York and Chicago but you can be sure to give them a warm homecoming for their triumphant return show – Friday, October 27th at Cheer Up Charlie’s joining KUTX Artist of the Month Palo Duro for their album release. In the meantime, you can enjoy their recently released single, “Longer”.
