The Halfways: “Not All Are To Be Trusted”

Despite their name, there are no half-measures in the Halfways’ music. Like a lot of current Austin bands, the quartet has a definite psychedelic vibe, but there’s a lot of jazz influence too. Lead singer Daniel Fernandez started out recording songs in his bedroom, featuring percussion sourced from coffee cans and salt shakers. The Halfways turned these ideas into fully-realized creations, complete with spacey twists and turns.

The band celebrates the release of its self-titled debut EP with a show tonight at Hotel Vegas. The laid-back groove of “Not All Are To Be Trusted” is a perfect introduction into the Halfways’ sci-fi sound. Download the song below.
