The Holydrug Couple: “Dreamy”

All this week, the Song of the Day features artists playing this weekend at Levitation.

The Holydrug Couple is Ives Sepúlveda and Manuel Parra, two longtime friends who formed the band in Santiago, Chile in 2008. Their 2013 debut, Noctuary, is a thing of beauty. The vocals are indecipherable, so the drama comes from the shifting atmosphere. At times, Noctuary sounds like if a jazz band went ambient.

The Holydrug Couple are back next week with Moonlust, and here the Chilean duo tightens up some of the arrangements. “Dreamy” is appropriately dreamy, taking cues from French popsmiths Air and Tame Impala’s groove-heavy psychedelia. Take a listen to the song below.

The Holydrug Couple plays the Elevation Amphitheater tonight at 6:45 p.m.
