The Joe Jacksons: “It’s A Sin”

Ready to relive your high school rock band days, but with music that’s, you know…good? Austin outfit the Joe Jacksons perfectly capture that youthful energy, but they’re an experienced bunch. The core pairing of Black Joe Lewis (of the Honeybears) and Mario Matteoli (formerly of the Weary Boys) amplifies into a garage-rock powerhouse, with Lewis and Matteoli trading lead vocal duties and improvisational electric guitar licks that add to the overall after school “jam” feel of their songs. “It’s A Sin”–connected only in name to the recordings by Pet Shop Boys and Eddy Arnold–turns the knob up to eleven with ringing power chords, crashing drums, simplistically fun lyrics from Matteoli, and some wild guitar work courtesy of Lewis.

The Joe Jacksons are live in Studio 1A on Thursday June 23 at 11 a.m. They’ll release their 7-inch single with an in-store performance at End of an Ear on Sunday, June 26th and at the Continental Club with The Happen-Ins on Thursday, June 30th.
