Youngblood Brass Band: “E La E”

Youngblood Brass Band’s roster ranges from across the country–from Wisconsin and Chicago to Nashville and New Orleans–and fittingly, their sound is hard to place. There are brass band elements, but they’re combined with hip-hop, punk, and electronic textures. The group isn’t content with replicating Second Line sounds. It’s all there in the band name: historical, but youthful.

“E La E” is indicative of Youngblood’s 2013 album, Pax Volumi. The brass section leads the song, but it’s undercut by the band’s inventive rhythmic pulse. Download the song below and catch Youngblood Brass Band tonight with Hard Proof at Empire Control Room. Doors at 8 p.m.
