U-God Suing Wu-Tang Clan Over Unpaid Royalties
Long-time Wu-Tang Clan member U-God is suing the hip-hop collective over six years’ worth of unpaid royalties and merchandise profit. U-God, real name Lamont Jody Hawkins, claims to have worked on about 170 Wu-Tang tracks since 1993, but hasn’t seen any royalty cuts from a dozen albums in the last six years, including the $2 million price tag Martin Shkreli paid for the album Once Upon a Time in Shaolin. On top of that, Hawkins claims he’s not seen his contraction-binding, semi-annual payout of Wu-Tang merchandise in over five years either. Hawkins puts full blame on RZA and his brother Mitchell Diggs for abusing their power as Wu-Tang Founders. All together, Hawkins alleges that he’s owed $2.5 million. (Stereogum)
Belle and Sebastian Put out a Call to Fans for Album Art
Belle and Sebastian released a statement yesterday via frontman Stuart Murdoch regarding an upcoming album, and they’re looking to fans for the album’s artwork, so if you’ve ever imagined your lovely visage gracing the cover of a Belle and Sebastian album, here’s your chance. The group is asking fans to email a single headshot to the group, and about 50 will be chosen as volunteers to have their photo taken by Murdoch himself for the upcoming album, which the group imagines will be released as a series of vinyl EPs. Head shots should be submitted by the end of December, and all of the details can be found here.
