Texas Country Music Titan Bill Ham Dies at 79

Former ZZ Top manager and Texas music business icon Bill Ham passed away on Tuesday evening at his home in Austin. Ham was not only an integral part of the success of ZZ Top, but is also largely responsible bringing singer Clint Black to country stardom and other artists with his wildly influential Hamstein Publishing company. Back in 2000, the American-Statesman published an article ranking the 25 most powerful people in Austin, naming Bill Ham as No. 1 in large part due to his crossover chart influence. Bill Ham was 79.

TLC to Release New Album After 14 Years, Tour Also Suspected

After 14 long years, the two surviving members of TLC are putting out a full-length album, 100% funded via Kickastarter. The duo, along with manager Bill Diggins, started the Kickstarter back in January with a $150,000 goal, which ended up raising $430,000 in just two months. The project began as a response to demand by fans who apparently were no longer feeling quenched by “Waterfalls.” Diggins said TLC has 15 songs ready to record and a tour is imminent, but no tracklist or release date has been announced.
