MTV Throwback to Come Back

MTV is in a phase of nostalgia bringing back some old favorites with a fresh coat of 2017. One of the newly announced reboots is Total Request Live, and, no, Carson Daily won’t be returning to VJ, but MTV’s set of five fresh faces will be hosting out of a prodigious Times Square studio. Originally launched back in 1998, TRL was on for a decade before being cancelled by MTV in favor of their growing music-lite format, but with MTV on a stiff decline, President Chris McCarthy is willing to try just about anything. TRL returns to your afternoons in October. McCarthy also announced this weekend that the iconic “Moonman” stature that ceremoniously serves at their Video Music Award trophy is officially the “Moonperson” award. McCarthy’s reasoning is brief and sound, “Why should it be a man? It could a man, it could be a woman, it could be transgender, it could be nonconformist.”
