New Order to Release Stray Dog Golden Ale
New Order is dabbling in a new endeavor: beer brewing. The group has partnered with Moorhouse’s Brewery, which celebrates its 150th anniversary this year, in Burnley, Lancanshire, England to create Stray Dog, a golden ale with “hints of citrus fruit and lychee, all balanced by a subtle bitterness,” named after a track from the group’s most recent album Music Complete, which was released last year. Stray Dog will be available for purchase later this fall.
BitTorrent Sets Up Fund to Invest and Promote Emerging Entertainers
BitTorrent, one of the world’s leading filesharing sites, is giving back to the entertainment industry. The company has established the Discovery Fund, a grant system intended to help entertainment industry “creators” (artists, musicians, filmmakers, designers, etc.) help build impactful releases. Over the next year, 25 of these creators will be awarded up to $100,000 to help fund their project, with additional help from BitTorrent with promotions and finding a global audience for the product. The rules for applying are simple: “You make something awesome. You own it. We back it.” You can find more information here.
