E.M.M.A. Launches Kickstarter to Expand Production Opportunities

London-based artist E.M.M.A., founder of Producergirls, has launched a kickstarter to expand her free music production workshop outside of London and into other cities across the U.K. Producergirls launched last year with the help of Image-Line, the company behind FL Studios, formerly called FruityLoops to offer one-day free instruction in music production. The collective needs to raise about $2,500 through the kickstarter to cover travel costs and fulfill opportunities outside the capital city. ProducerGirls is also looking to collaborate with local artists in each city they visit. Currently, the campaign has raised about $2,000 so far, with 33 days left to raise funds. Of the fundraiser, E.M.M.A. explains, “It’s a skill-sharing supportive environment for girls who want to learn but have not yet had the opportunity, funds or connections to do so…In order for it to continue and get outside of London around the UK and make a real difference to the game, we need this Kickstarter to help cover costs of taking it around the country.”

Annie Lennox to Receive the George Harrison Global Citizen Award

The annual Global Citizen Festival returns to New York City next month, and this year honors singer-songwriter and philanthropist Annie Lennox as this year’s recipient of its annual George Harrison Global Citizen Award. Started in 2012 by Coldplay’s Chris Martin, the Global Citizen Festival is one part of the Global Citizen Week, which includes keynotes, conferences, and concerts. Lennox will accept the award on Monday, September 18 at the kickoff of Global Citizen week, sharing the pre-festival stage with Prophets of Rage’s Tom Morello.
