Federal Judge Rules in Favor of Bey, Throws Out Copyright Case

The Beyonce Lemonade lawsuit has been thrown out to the chagrin of probably no one except the Plaintiff filmmaker Matthew Fulks. Fulks sued Beyonce back in June accusing the singer of lifting nine “specific” elements from his short film Palinoia and using them in the trailer for visual album Lemonade. Bey’s attorneys backfired quickly, saying the alleged stolen elements including “graffiti and persons with heads down,” a parking garage, and “side-lit ominous figures” were not only not taken from Fulks’s film, but are also textbook examples of what copyright infringement isn’t. The federal judge presiding over the case agreed and threw out the case last Wednesday. (Billboard)

Freddie Mercury Has Officially Been Immortalized in Space

Yesterday would have been Freddie Mercury’s 70th birthday, and to mark the occasion, Queen guitarist and real life astrophysicist Brian May announced that an asteroid orbiting Mars and Jupiter has been named after the singer. The asteroid, now known has Asteroid 17473 Freddiemercury was discovered in November 1991, the same month and year Freddie Mercury passed away. The asteroid lies in the main asteroid belt, circling the sun at 20 km/sec in an orbit that promises it will never threaten Earth with impact. (Rolling Stone)
