Atash at KUTX 3.20.14 @ 11 a.m.

Transcendent–this is an idea applicable not only to the music of world band, Atash, but also its members. Winners or almost winners of ‘Austin’s Best World Music Band’ for several consecutive years in row, the group transcends cultures and geographical borders. They began in Austin, but Atash represent so much more than Austin alone. The band-mates come from around the globe blending a multitude of international traditions into their music, including Middle Eastern, flamenco, West African, Western classical, jazz, and rock. Instruments range from the sitar, tabla, and strings, to flamenco guitar, upright bass, and west African percussion. The L.A. Times calls them, “seekers of love’s eternal mysteries from a more spiritual plane.” They’ll be with us Thursday March 20 at 11 a.m. and live at the Stateside at the Paramount March 21 and 22 where they will be pairing up with Ars Mundi Artists International to present a multi-disciplinary, multimedia theatrical interpretation of their new album Everything Is Music. They’ll be joined by a star-studded cast of guest musicians and dancers. Until then, check out a sample of their music RIGHT HERE!
