B.R. Lively 11.28.17

B.R. Lively doesn’t just want to play an instrument, he wants to be one. Last year, on the heels of heartbreak, this Lone Ranger traded in his house and most of his worldly possessions for a 1991 Winnebago and the open road. Living nomadically, with just his dog Kato for company, Lively embarked on an eighteen month journey of self-discovery; one that greatly informed his debut solo effort, Into the Blue. Although he’s been making music for over a decade, this full length sees a conscious move from his previous projects. Highly personal and deeply introspective, Lively forgoes modern flare for cinematic music rooted in folk, Southern Gothic and soul. The record features sweeping strings, jazzy horns and Lively’s emotive voice. The singer-songwriter dropped past Studio 1A to share some of the lessons he’s learnt on the road. Check out the full session below!
