Beth // James 1.30.19

Mikaela Beth Kahn and Jordan James Burchill met as students at the University of Noth Texas. Years later, they have become music duo Beth//James. Runner-up for “Best New Austin Band” in the 2017 Austin Music Awards, and with their debut EP “All in Life” being named one of “5 Standout EPs” of 2017 by the Austin-American Statesman, the duo navigates effortlessly among American music traditions such as storytelling while adding indie pop/rock elements, beautiful guitar work and stunning harmony. The EP “Falling” is their most personal compilation of songs to date and in their new single “Blurry,” the pair take listeners through the struggles of the past year while maintaining hope that despite it all, the struggle is beautiful. Beth//James’ music can also be heard in the Spike Lee movie, BlacKkKlansmans. The duo, along with band members Mike St. Clair, Jeff Olson and Daniel Parr, took the time to stop by Studio 1A before their release show at Cactus Cafe Feb. 1.
