Big Sandy @ KUTX 02.18.2015

Big Sandy has given us a quarter century of rollicking rockabilly!

Hailing from California, Big Sandy came together with his Fly-Rite Boys in the late ’80’s and are still going strong three decades and 14 albums later. Inducted into the Rockabilly Hall of Fame, they play a solid combination of rockabilly, boogie, Western swing, and roots rock. Big Sandy has been steadily diversifying, his music expanding to include influences ranging from folk, bluegrass, and R&B, their overall formalist style and Big Sandy’s sweet voice a steady constant. Big Sandy’s last release, What a Dream It’s Been, was released in celebration of their 25th year in music, a collection of acoustic remakes of  forgotten tracks compiled while in “a nostalgic state of mind,” yet boasting a fresh and occasionally somber take on their sound.

You can catch Big Sandy performing live at the Continental Club on Friday, February 20th or you can stream his music right here on KUTX.
