Christy Hays @ KUTX 12.10.14

Christy Hays is about to pay tribute to her midwestern roots.

Born in the midwest and currently living in Austin, singer-songwriter Christy Hays has made a life of traveling and identifies herself as a vagabond. Over her still-young career, Hays has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with the likes of Hayes Carll, Bruce Robison, Kelly Willis, and Sturgill Simpson. With the help of her band Caliche, Hays delivers her distinct brand of folk psych rock Americana.

Hays’ 2012 full length album Drought was well received for its deftly woven arrangements and hard luck lyrics. Critics and fans have since compared Hays’ sound to that of Lucinda Williams, Sun Volt, Mazzy Star, Kathleen Edwards, and Loretta Lynn. With the upcoming release of her solo EP O Montana, Hays has been booked for international dates, but will of course kick everything off in the Live Music Capital. You can catch Christy Hays her at the release of her O Montana this Wednesday, December 10th at the Cactus or you can stream her right here at KUTX!
