Native Austinite Danny Schmidt is an impressive force in the folk and bluegrass scene, displaying his prowess in both poetic songwriting and remarkable guitar technique.
Schmidt’s career kicked off in 1999 with the release of his first studio album Live at the Prism Coffeehouse, and since has seen the release of 6 additional solo albums plus 3 collaborative albums, and has toured both nationally and internationally. Schmidt met fellow folk musician Carrie Elkin in 2007, and together they have toured and released an album For Keeps as a equally powerful duo. His song “This Too Shall Pass” was featured on the popular podcast Welcome to Night Vale in 2013, and his song “Echo In the Hills,” recorded with Carrie Elkins, was also featured on the podcast in 2014.
Schmidt will release his 8th solo album Owls next Tuesday, May 19th. He will be performing a live CD release concert that day, which you can stream at Concert Window at 9 p.m. CDT.
