Doctor’s Mob 9.10.19

In the wake of the synthetic 80’s synth bands, a more authentic sound cropped up in Austin, cynically dubbed the ‘new sincerity’ movement. Among the leading bands of the movement was a loud, brash assemblage called Doctors’ Mob, whose motto -“Show Up Late, Show Up Drunk, Or Don’t Show Up At All’ seemed to exemplify their chaotic live shows. Yet buried beneath their who-gives-a-@#$% attitude lay some great songwriting, found on their two albums – Headache Machine and Sophomore Slump. Unlike many of their peers, the Mob has only reunited twice for special events since their early 90’s breakup. This makes their KUTX Studio 1A performance  – and their headlining slot at the Hole in the Wall’s ‘Gregstock’ on 9/14 (a benefit to help their friend Greg Ellis pay his medical bills) – a rare treat for Austin music lovers. Listen here.
