George Winston 2.15.2016

World renowned pianist, George Winston stopped by Studio 1A on Monday, February 15th, and gave us a glimpse at why he has earned the nickname, the Father of New Age Music. Winston, who is originally from Montana but also spent time in Mississippi as well as Florida, became fascinated with instrumental rock and R&B such as, The Ventures, Floyd Cramer as well as The Doors. Having developed a manner of playing different than classical piano, Winston has self-described his technique as folk piano, which has an up-tempo style that mesmerizes listeners and captures the essence of the season.

George Winston will be performing at One World Theatre this Wednesday and Thursday, February 17th and 18th, and is holding a canned food drive with 100% of merchandise sales going to the Capital Area Food Bank. You will need to get tickets to see the show so make sure to get them while you can! You can also stream his music here on KUTX.
