Glen Hansard @ KUTX 8.22.15

Glen Hansard: Dublin busker turned professional songwriter.

In 1983, 13-year-old Hansard dropped out of school to perform on the streets of Dublin and by 1990 he had formed indie folk rock quintet The Frames (celebrating their 25th anniversary this year). The following year Hansard appeared in the BAFTA-winning film, The Commitments, garnishing him international attention as a guitar player. In the midst of gigging regularly with The Frames, Hansard released Swell Season, a collaboration with Czech singer/multi-instrumentalist Markéta Irglová. The same year, the two would star in the Irish music-centric film, Once, earning the duo the Academy Award for Best Original Song Falling Slowly.

Since 1990 Hansard has appeared on numerous TV shows, has released seven albums with The Frames, three albums as Swell Season, and the 2012 solo album Rhythm and Repose. As Hansard gears up for an international tour, fans are eager to hear his latest album Didn’t He Ramble, due for release September 18th.
