Ian McLagan B-Day Tribute @ KUTX 05.12.15

We hosted a birthday tribute here in Studio 1A for the late and great Ian McLagan, 70 years after he was born on May 12th, 1945!

Remembered as one of the greats of British rock, keyboardist, songwriter, and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Ian McLagan was a member of the bands Small Faces and Faces throughout the 1970’s. McLagan was also a well known collaborator and session musician, working with the likes of the Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, Joe Cocker, Lucinda Williams, Bonnie Raitt, Frank Black, Bruce Springsteen, and Billy Bragg throughout his career. The English musician had also been fronting the Bump Band since 1977, playing gigs here in Austin, his adopted home of 20 years.

This Friday, the Continental Club will be hosting a special event entitled “Happy 70th Birthday Mac” in honor of Ian McLagan. The event will feature the Bump Band, as well as special guests Patty Griffin, Alejandro Escovedo, Malford Milligan, Miles Zuniga, William Harries Graham, and Jon Dee Graham with local band the Happen-Ins opening the show.

You can attend the celebratory event at the Continental Club this Friday, May 15th, and you can also stream a special tribute with Alejandro Escovedo, Miles Zuniga (Fast Ball), and the Bump Band right here on KUTX.
