Austin Music Foundation Artist of the Month and Berklee College of Music graduate Jackie Venson stopped by Studio 1A to showcase a few tracks off her new album Jackie Venson Live (sounds below). Austin has no shortage of music creatives, but few demonstrate such style and precision as Venson. With a voice that channels Joss Stone and Amy Winehouse, and a guitar tone that echoes legend Jeff Buckley, the Austin native will no doubt awaken the indie-blues muse in all of her listeners.
Venson is kicking off the release of her new album this Sunday the 18th with a performance at Antone’s, as well as a spot on the ALL ATX Benefit Show at the Moody Theater on September 28th (sold out). Do your ears a favor and listen now. Her album is out September 16th.
