Jon Dee Graham 11.9.17

The man, the myth, the legend Jon Dee Graham has been making music, and history, for nearly forty years. It all started when he dropped out of the University of Texas law school to start Austin’s very first punk band, The Skunks. With them he opened for acts like The Clash and The Ramones, before moving on to back blues singer Lou Ann Barton, then getting together with Alejandro Escovedo to form True Believers. As if that isn’t already enough, Graham’s musical resume boasts work with the likes of John Doe and Exene Cervenka of XKelly WillisPatty Griffin among others. Graham has released eight solo albums, and even released a book of love notes and illustrations. His latest release is a 20th-anniversary edition of his solo debut Escape From Monster Island. We were lucky enough to host Jon Dee in Studio 1A ahead of his anniversary release show at the Continental Club. Missed the session? Don’t worry we’ve got you covered right here!
