Josh Ritter 1.13.16

In the years since dropping out of his neuroscience program at Oberlin College in Ohio, Josh Ritter has carved out his distinctive style of Americana. Born and raised in Moscow, Idaho, Ritter bought his first guitar after hearing Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan’s “Girl from the North Country” on his paren’t copy of Nashville Skyline. While his music is certainly marked by the formative discoveries of his teenage years, in his over 15 year music career, Josh Ritter has developed his own idiosyncratic sound–possessing both a melodic sensibility, and the soul piercing literary eye of Leonard Cohen.

Josh Ritter has appeared as a musical guest on the Late Show with David Letterman and his music has been featured in the television series Six Feet Under and Parenthood. Ritter released his 8th full-length album, Sermon on the Rocks, in October last year. Check out his performance at KUTX’s Studio 1A and catch him live on Thursday, January 14th, at ACL Live
