Juanita Stein 10.25.18

Juanita Stein was born in Melbourne, Australia to a musically-inclined family. Her father and two brothers were avid musicians, so creating and consuming music inevitably became an integral part of her childhood. At University, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Literature, but would ultimately dedicate her energy to the musical arts. In 2004, she moved to London and formed a band called Howling Bells. Inspired by the strong presence of art in London, Howling Bells would release four albums with Juanita at the forefront. Their music had elements that combined shoegaze, Americana, and pop. Howling Bells had a good run, yet Stein would eventually decide to transition her efforts to a solo career. Her budding solo pursuit had a fresh and new element to it and she was able to draw inspiration from her curiosity of American culture. This lead for her first solo album released in 2017, to be titled America.
