Kat Edmonson 5.19.18

Houstonian singer-songwriter Kat Edmonson is a Patsy Cline for the modern day. Her soft voice is clear and sweet, with each word perfectly enunciated so you know exactly what she is saying. While her music sounds like it came straight from 1955, her lyrics touch on modern-day themes like social media, virtual reality, femininity and relationships in the age of technology. Her most recent album, Old Fashioned Gal, allows listeners to feel like they are friends with Edmonson because of her personal, touching, and relatable lyrics. But make no mistake, Edmonson is a powerhouse musician who has headlined jazz festivals and toured with the likes of Lyle Lovett and Gary Clark Jr. Edmonson will be performing at ACL Live’s Moody Theater on Saturday, May 19th. Before performing a free show at Waterloo Records this evening, she stopped by Studio 1A to play selections from Old Fashioned Gal. Enjoy her session below!
