Kelly Doyle 8.21.17

In recent years, guitarist Kelly Doyle spent most of his time playing with any number of bands, including  What Made Milwaukee Famous and most recently, Robert Ellis. Now, the consummate sideman is stepping away from his guitar and prolific bandmates to dive into the world of ambient electronic music. That may sound like a bit of a stretch for somebody deciding to set out on their own after years of playing cosmic country and indie rock, but Doyle pulls it off with ease. The songs are sparse, ethereal, experimental pieces that somehow manage to stir the senses and soothe the nerves at the same time. For us, it’s the mark of a truly skilled and adventurous composer, one willing  to look beyond their comfort zone for new modes of expression. AM was released in May of 2016, but Kelly is taking a chance this week by playing these songs live for the very first time. We got a sneak peek at the solo project when he stopped by the studio with Robert Ellis playing sideman this round. Listen in the player at the bottom of this post!
