Kris Bowers is thought to be one of the brightest lights on the jazz landscape. Getting his masters from Juiliard in 2011, he went on that same year to win the coveted Thelonious Monk International Jazz Piano Competition at the Kennedy Center. Just one year later he was selected to perform at the 2012 NEA Jazz Masters Awards Ceremony. Though Kris is thought to be mainly a jazz musician, he has dabbled in Hip Hop, working 0n Watch the Throne, Jay-Z and Kanye West’s collaborative album, and film scoring with his work appearing on the big screen most notably in Seeds of Time, Sandy McCloud’s documentary film. In March of this year Kris Bowers released his first album Heroes + Misfits which is already receiving critical acclaim.
