Is it safe to say yet that Kurt Vile’s solo career has joined his previous band, The War on Drugs, within pantheon of contemporary indie rock? If not, it’s because his solo music isn’t exactly indie rock. How about lo-fi roots/blues/slacker/heartland rock? If that doesn’t help how about thinking of him like Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young Transformer with Stephen Malkmus as the head.
