Les Hay Babies 9.25.17

For a French-speaking band hailing from New Brunswick, Canada, Les Hay Babies didn’t have a very hard time winning over music fans in Central Texas. Not too crazy considering their penchant for writing catchy melodies with incredibly warm harmonies. Together, Vivianne Roy, Julie Aubé, and Katrine Noël take Acadian folk music and bring it thoroughly into the new century. While that may seem a bit limiting to a group of talented young women, Les Hay Babies use folk music as a springboard into the wider world of rock ‘n’ roll. Indeed, their new album, La 4ième dimension, eschews their folk/country roots all together in favor of 60s & 70s rock ‘n’ roll and ballads. Les Hay Babies were in town for their second appearance at Utopia Fest and took time to drop by the studio to play us a few tunes.
