Loma 4.3.18

You might want to tie yourself to something solid before jumping into Loma’s incredibly lush sonic landscapes. The Austin based band consisting of Shearwater’s Johnathan Meiburg and Cross Record’s Emily Cross and Dan Duszynski doesn’t write songs. These are explorers using sound to unearth moods, textures, and emotions before wrapping them together into vivid sonic tapestries like “Who Is Speaking” or “Dark Oscillations”. In fact, the landscapes are so well knit it can be difficult to discern individual instruments or sounds. An individual drum, piano chord, or guitar tone seemingly blossoms into a fully orchestrated experience complete with the cicadas and whippoorwills captured outside the group’s Hill Country recording studio.

Loma stopped by Studio 1A to play a few songs and talk about their debut self-titled album before their show at The ND on April 21st
