Members of Moving Panoramas, Basketball Shorts and Shivery Shakes have teamed up to keep the dream of Summer alive with Mean Jolene. This Austin supergroup creates infectious garage/surf pop jams that will put a smile on your face. Their debut release, Salty, came out earlier this month on Austin Town Hall Records and it is 10 tracks of pure energy. The songs might sound like old doo-wop pop songs from yesteryear, but there’s this punk spirit and intensity that surrounds them. Each Austin band that is featured on this project brings something unique to the sound created here. It almost feels as if your favorite brand of bubblegum came out with a new flavor that’s exciting and worth checking out. Mean Jolene stopped by Studio 1A and they will also be at Hotel Vegas later tonight!
