There is a strategy in the game of Spades called Nelo in which one loses every hand in order to ultimately win big. Reid Umstattd (lead singer) and Matt Ragland (guitarist and songwriter), founders of band, Nelo, were inspired by this concept as it relates to life and music– taking pain and loss and using it to create something meaningful and positive. The two Austinites met in summer camp and later developed a friendship that ultimately turned into a band. The Austin, TX rock ensemble is set to release their self titled LP, Nelo, February 4 of this year. The band feels the record is a true representation of who they are, closer to their roots than all other previous recordings. Check out our recording session with them right here!
