Nick Waterhouse makes rhythm and blues revival music with a demeanor and style to match. The Long Beach native stopped by KUTX Studio 1A last week ahead of his show at the Parish with a full band to play new songs off his most recent studio album Nick Waterhouse and talked his obsession with record store shopping and realizing from an early age that he was a bit more curious about music than the rest of his friends around him.

His fourth studio album is self-titled- following a strong career that began with 2012’s Time’s All Gone and he continues to be meticulous about the sound he makes, recording everything on magnetic tape through analog equipment. But with a production and collaboration roster that includes Dallas native Leon Bridges, garage-rocker Ty Segall and LA quartet Allah-Las, his well known “Waterhouse Sound” is not limited to the genres of music that inspired him growing up.
