of Montreal 10.28.16

Glitter-pop, indie-rock veterans of Montreal return to Austin amidst a string of shows promoting their latest album Innocence Reaches. Frontman Kevin Barnes never seems in shortage of energetic pop melodies and sharp witted lyrics to sing to them, even in the wake of a recent divorce- and record #14 proves it. The latest record is the result of time spent in studios in Paris that had nothing but drum machines and synths. Guitars were added later but the euro-synthy vibe definitely dominates the sound of Innocence Reaches, and we love it.

Commenting on the video for their recent single “it’s different for girls”, Youtube fan Chelsea Carboni admits that “everytime they come out with a new song, I get super scared because I’m afraid it might not be good, because a lot of musicians are like that… but I’m never, ever disappointed. I love this song so f****** much.” Couldn’t have said it better ourselves.

of Montreal dropped by Studio 1A, and rocked Mohawk on Friday to a pretty stoked crowd of fans. Interview and studio performances below!
